Dr Ir I.A.M. Huijben
Iris Huijben is a postdoctoral researcher in the department of advanced computing sciences at Maastricht University. Her postdoc research focusses on signal decomposition algorithms and its extensions to deep representation learning.
Iris graduated from the faculty of Electrical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), the Netherlands, where she received TU/e’s MSc Thesis Award 2020 for her master thesis on sub-Nyquist sampling of medical ultrasound data.
Iris did her PhD in the digital signal processing group at TU/e as well, focussing on representation learning, compression, dimensionality reduction, and compressed sensing, with applications in sleep medicine.
During het PhD Iris conducted a research internship regarding neural video compression in the team of Taco Cohen at Qualcomm AI Research, Amsterdam, and another research internship at FAIR Meta, Paris on database compression for approximate retrieval, supervised by Matthijs Douze and Jakob Verbeek.
