Maastricht team wins the regional round of the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition
The Maastricht University Faculty of Law team participated in and won the regional round of the Helga Pedersen Moot Court Competition. The team will be advancing to the final round in Strasbourg, France held at the premises of the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights. Many congratulations to the team members and their coaches!
The Netherlands were represented by the UM team of Kevin Gomez Marrero and Austeja Ragauskaite, both in their second year of the European Law School program. The team was coached by AgustĂn Parise. Showing both legal acumen and highly developed interviewing skills, Kevin and Austeja made it to the finals, where they had to compete against two common law countries, Ireland and Scotland. They ended as runner-up with Scotland as winner. This is an outstanding result in a very difficult competition, in which good results largely depend on the ability to react on the spot to unexpected challenges offered by the actor-client.
