Education Programme Committee Biomedical Sciences
Within the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, the study programmes are grouped under three educational domains: ‘Health’, ‘Medicine’, and ‘Biomedical Sciences’ (BMS). Each domain has its own Education Programme Committee (EPC). The BMS domain includes the bachelor’s programmes Biomedical Sciences and Regenerative Medicine and Technology, as well as the master’s programme Biomedical Sciences.
The EPC BMS consists of six student members and six staff members, all of whom are actively involved in one of the programmes within the Biomedical Sciences domain. Both delegations have an equal saying. The committee provides advice—either upon request or on its own initiative—on all matters related to the quality of education within its domain. This includes, among other things:
- Providing advice on improvements and content-related innovations in the programmes based on internal or external evaluations, such as programme evaluations, accreditation reports, or curriculum revisions.
- Providing advice on the Education and Examination Regulations (EER) and how these regulations are implemented in practice. The EPC has a statutory right of consent and/or advisory authority on specific parts of the EER.
The advice issued by the EPC is usually directed to the Management Team of the BMS domain, the Board of the Institute for Education, and/or the Faculty Board. In addition, the EPC always sends its advice and proposals to the Faculty Council for information.
The EPC BMS meets on average ten times per academic year. The agenda, (non-confidential parts of) the minutes, and the issued advice letters are public and can be requested from the secretary of the EPC.
- Applications for the position of EPC staff member run via the BROS Management System
- Applications for the position of EPC student member run via the Student Council Health and Life Sciences
