Decolonial Narratives: Fiction, Memory, and Activism

This AMC colloquium explores decolonial methodologies emerging in contemporary humanities. It focuses on narrative in its various forms, such as literature, fiction, critical fabulation, and life writing, as a means of processing trauma, identity, and both individual and collective epistemic resistance.

The event seeks to bring together research that explores writings from the margins as acts of discovery, construction, and resignification of memory and subjectivity, forming strategies of emancipation and activism that inspire and create space for new voices and discourses to circulate.

The speakers will engage with topics such as:

• Writing as an act of care: Decolonial methodologies for writing about trauma, constructing support networks, social mobilisation, justice, and activism.
• The construction of memory: The use of fiction and life writing to narrate experiences and histories that have been silenced.
• Territory, nature, and narration: Non-hegemonic worldviews, environmental justice, and the defence of territory through literary writing and other narrative practices.

The colloquium thus establishes itself as an interdisciplinary space for dialogue on narrative practices as resistance and the redefinition of the boundaries between theory, invention, and activism.
