The Labelled
We do it all day long, consciously or unconsciously: pigeonholing and thinking in stereotypes. But how does it actually work? In this lecture, Dilara Bilgiç discusses the concept of labelling and stereotyping from a psychological perspective, in order to hopefully create more awareness about our own blind spots.
Dilara Bilgiç is a writer and journalist. Her debut De Black Box Democratie (The Black Box Democracy) was published in 2020. It is a political-philosophical analysis of democracy in the Netherlands. Her second book, De gelabelde (The Labelled), was released in 2022. This is a literary non-fiction work about the influence of labels on people's lives.
