Lecture Erin Schrode (‘The Youth Revolution’)

American citizen activist Erin Schrode will hold a lecture at Maastricht University entitled ‘The Youth Revolution: Transforming Passion into Leadership’. The lecture is part of the Ambassador Lecture Series.

Erin Schrode (25) is a citizen activist, community organizer, and vocal advocate for environmental action, social justice, public health, and responsible consumption. Since co-founding environmental non-profit Turning Green at the age of 13, she has developed education and social action platforms to inspire, educate, and mobilize millions of students and the global public with this non-profit and beyond. This year Erin launched an unprecedented campaign for US Congress as a 24-year-old woman and was the youngest person ever to do so (see this  NY Times article).

Having consulted countless multinational enterprises (such as Apple, The Coca-Cola Company and Nestlé to name a few) about millennials and sustainability, as well as presented on a variety of subjects at The White House and United Nations, Erin promotes active citizenry and environmental stewardship worldwide, to say the least. Her accomplishments include launching a youth education project in Haiti, writing curriculum for an eco education center for Palestinian, Israeli, and Jordanian youth, developing recycling infrastructure in Ghana, and recently working with Syrian, Iraqi, and Afghan refugees in the Mediterranean.

In her talk Erin will share the lessons she has learnt from her non-traditional journey and speak about how the youth of today can lead through boots-on-the-ground work for real world impact and digital amplification to convert their passion into action.

The lecture is free and open to public. More info:
