Writer Frank Nellen and researcher Suzanne Kooloos investigate special book collections
Writer Frank Nellen and researcher Suzanne Kooloos are joining forces to delve into the special book collections of Radboud University and Maastricht University. Their research will serve as inspiration for a joint artistic project. The writer and researcher will be given free rein and will report on their findings as they go along.
This project is part of the collaboration between Radboud University and Maastricht University. Under the motto Connected through heritage, the two universities are seeking to build ties with a focus on their Special Collections: the departments that house old and special books. In the coming months, Frank Nellen and Suzanne Kooloos' research can be followed on the social media of the Special Collections of Radboud Heritage and Maastricht University and on the websites of the universities of Nijmegen and Maastricht.
Frank Nellen
Frank is a writer, lawyer and economist. He lives in Nijmegen, teaches at Maastricht University and works as a tax specialist. His literary debut Land van dadels en prinsen (Land of Dates and Princes, 2019) was well received. His second novel De onzichtbaren (The Invisibles, 2024) was shortlisted for the Boekenbon Literature Prize 2024.
Suzanne Kooloos
Suzanne Kooloos is a researcher. Her thesis, which is currently being finalised, focuses on the stock market crisis in the Dutch Republic in 1720. Suzanne's research combines book history with art history, literary studies, theatre studies and economic history. An eclectic mix that fits this project perfectly.
Zwerfgoed
Radboud University previously gave a researcher and a creator free rein in the Special Collections. In 2021, comedian and writer Katinka Polderman and researcher Sophie Reinders created Zwerfgoed: an activity book for adults based on texts and prints from old books.
