Take part in the International Mother Language Day 2018
In 2018 also, the International Mother Language Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, 21 February. The Veldeke Mestreech foundation, which strives for the promotion of the Maastricht dialect, wishes to make a special day of it together with Maastricht University.
Veldeke invites international students to translate one specific Maastricht sentence into their own language. Maastricht University and Veldeke will spread all translations of the Maastricht sentence on posters throughout the city.
Because Maastricht University respects all mother languages, and therefore also the Maastricht dialect, we call on our students to translate the following sentence into their mother language:
"Gruuts op mien Moojertaol!" (In English: “Proud of my Mother Language!”)
You can send your translation to the following email address: info@veldekemestreech.nl
Please mention which country you come from and in which language you have translated the sentence.
