Supporting PBL development at Anton de Kom University, Paramaribo, Suriname
Anton de Kom University in Suriname invited EDLAB to support its move towards Problem-Based Learning (PBL) within the Faculty of Social Sciences.
Anton de Kom University asked for a training that would both introduce PBL to new staff and refresh knowledge among experienced lecturers, while helping the faculty translate the approach into concrete curriculum design and assessment practices.
To meet this request, Annechien Deelman from EDLAB delivered a week-long programme in early October. Through workshops and small-group sessions, staff from Psychology and Pedagogical Sciences worked on designing PBL modules, writing vignettes, and aligning learning outcomes, activities and assessment.
The collaboration helped strengthen local capacity for student-centred education and deepened the connection between Anton de Kom University and Maastricht University.
