Master's Open Day: informative and enjoyable

On Saturday, 1242 prospective master's students visited Maastricht University’s Master's Open Day to explore our programmes and Problem-Based Learning approach. The weather was dull and dreary, in stark contrast to the friendly and welcoming atmosphere reported by visitors.

While turnout was slightly lower than last year, Saturday’s show-up rate was markedly higher. Visitors participated in workshops and information sessions across all six faculties, engaging with student ambassadors and alumni about several topics such as admission, registration and career prospects.

Once again, the School of Business and Economics and the Randwyck faculties (Health Medicine and Life Sciences, and Psychology and Neuroscience) attracted the most visitors, with the Law School notching up a slight increase in attendance compared to last year.

Positive visitor feedback

A successful event, according to the organisers, and attendee feedback was equally positive. Most visitors surveyed rated their experience as 'useful' to 'very useful. Participants praised the friendliness of staff and student ambassadors, the smooth organisation of the event, and the overall atmosphere.

As one respondent put it: “I loved the enthusiasm of the other students, how there was a nice atmosphere and an opportunity to ask questions. The answers were very clear and thorough, and of course the Limburgse kersenvlaai [regional cake] was amazing and so tasty…”

Overall ratings for the sessions exceeded 8 out of 10, affirming the success of the day as a valuable opportunity for prospective students to explore their academic journey at Maastricht University.
