Maastricht University partner in Erasmus+ project led by NOVA

A project intitiated by WUN partner, the Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (NOVA), in the framework of the Erasmus+ CBHE programme has been awarded a grant of 1 million Euro.  The project titled University Development and Innovation – Africa (UDI-A) aims to support four African Universities in the Lusophone countries, Angola and Mozambique, in developing their capacities to contribute to sustainable and inclusive development. The main focus is improvement of the quality education that is geared to local, national and regional needs.

The project focuses on four scientific areas: economics and management; environment and infrastructures; health sciences; humanities and social sciences. Each of the European partners take responsibility to train selected staff from the African Universities in one of these areas. Maastricht University was assigned to the health component. In March teaching seven staff of the African University will visit Maastricht University. MUNDO and SHE Collaborates have developed a programme.

Other partner universities in this project are: King’s College London, Université Libre de Bruxelles, Universidade Agostinho Neto (Angola), Universidade Eduardo Mondlane (Mozambique), Universidade Katyavala Bwila (Angola), Universidade Lúrio (Mozambique)
