In memoriam Gido Boere
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to our dear colleague, Gido Boere (14 January 1962 – 21 July 21 2025), who passed away at the age of 63.
On 1 November 1986, Gido began his career at Maastricht University as a cook in the Mensa at Tongersestraat 53. He was part of the Business Operations and Technical Services (BTD) department, now part of Facility Services, to which he remained loyal throughout his entire career. For nearly 39 years, he held various positions within the organisation, from kitchen staff to manager. In recent years, he worked as Facility Manager, a role in which he connected people and processes with genuine dedication.
Colleagues remember him as a unifying, reliable, and always approachable person. He was there for others – literally day and night. His commitment, collegiality, and warm nature made him beloved and respected by everyone.
Gido was involved in organising countless moments of togetherness, including the INKOM introduction week and staff parties with memorable performances. He managed to bring in artists such as Hans Dulfer and Candy Dulfer for an event that colleagues still fondly recall – a shining example of his drive to bring people together.
Some time ago, Gido unfortunately became ill. Despite his illness, he continued working for as long as he could, until it was no longer possible. During this period, he once again showed his strength and courage. His passing leaves a deep and painful void within our organisation and in our hearts.
Our thoughts are with his wife Ingrid, his daughter Janou, and all his family, friends, and loved ones. May they find comfort in the many beautiful memories they shared with Gido.
Thank you, Gido, for everything you have meant to Facility Services, Maastricht University, and to us personally. We will miss you.
Rest in peace, dear colleague and friend.
