Vacancy: FSE social media assistant

Are you a student at the Faculty of Science and Engineering with an interest in social media, looking for a paid job next to your studies?

We are looking for an enthusiastic Social Media Assistant to join our Marketing & Communications team. This position is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience in social media management and to play a key role in shaping the online presence of our faculty.

 

Responsibilities

  • Content Creation: Collect and create engaging content for our social media channels, particularly Instagram and LinkedIn, by collaborating with faculty and staff to gather programme updates, success stories, and noteworthy events.
  • Administrative Support: Assist the Social Media Manager in coordinating with social media ambassadors of the faculty, assisting with trainings and meetings, proofreading content, and managing the content calendar.

  • Community Engagement: Encourage engagement in the FSE online community, analyse our posts and adjust strategy for effectiveness, reach and community engagement.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s programme at the Faculty of Science and Engineering
  • An interest in social media and community engagement
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English (Dutch not necessary, but is a plus)
  • Knowledge of social media platforms and familiarity with content creation tools
  • Prior experience in social media management is a plus but not required
  • Proactive, self-motivated attitude and able to work independently
  • Attention to detail, ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
  • Able to take high-quality photos and videos
  • Creative and imaginative approach to content creation
  • Familiarity with the faculty/University and its initiatives is a plus

Working conditions

  • You will receive a 0-hour contract via InterUM (UM employment agency), which means payment will be based on the actual hours you work. See here for payscales.
  • The job consists of 4-8 hours per week
  • It is necessary to use your own phone (and/or camera) for this work, so it should allow for shooting high quality photos and video, as well as easy access to the social media platforms
