Workshop: the RACI Matrix: division of roles and responsibilities in UM governance

Learn to use the RACI matrix as a tool to improve clarity and commitment in complex educational processes.

This workshop provides an introduction to the RACI matrix as a tool for delineating roles and responsibilities in complex (educational) work environments, where multiple actors have to collaborate.

We start with a brief explanation of the RACI framework and its origins and application to project management. Afterwards, the participants are invited to apply the tool to the practices taking place within their faculties. 

This session is especially useful for those new to university management (such as programme directors or educational coordinators) or those who play a role in a UM board or committee, such as the Educational Programme Committee (EPC), BoE (Board of Examiners) or the Faculty/University Council.

About the trainer

Elissaveta Radulova is an Associate Professor at FASoS, where her area of expertise is Public Policy and Good Governance. Since 2011 she is heavily engaged with educational management and organisational affairs most notably as Chair of the Board of Examiners (2012-2018), EDLAB Liaison (2016-2017), Employability Coordinator (2018-2019), and Programme Director of the BA in European Studies (2019-2022). As Chair of the FASoS BoE her task was to transform the BoE from a bookkeeper to a quality assurance actor. In this context, she was in charge of drafting the BoE Statute and organising the proper delineation of work and responsibilities regarding the quality assurance of assessment practices (using a RACI matrix).
