One Giant Body - Bearing the Pain of our Ancestors
In a plea for a more inclusive, contemporary approach to the commemoration of the Holocaust, Dutch-Jewish author Maurits de Bruijn will give a lecture about his views on the importance of highlighting intergenerational trauma.
De Bruijn’s mother survived WWII, while her parents and sisters were murdered in the extermination camp Sobibor, in June 1943. This family history has strongly impacted his mother, Maurits’ own upbringing, his work and his political stance. It also informs his sense of responsibility towards the legacy of the Holocaust.
Maurits' newest novel 'Man maakt stuk' has been shortlisted for the Libris Literature Prize 2025. The winner will be announced on May 19th.
