Graduation Ceremonies Masters

Diploma
-

We are proud to hand the diploma's to our graduates on this festive day.

Are you a Master graduate? You can find information and the date for your graduation ceremony via this link. Look carefully which ceremony belongs to which graduation date and take this into account during your studies!

You will receive an invitation to register yourself and your guests about 4 weeks before the ceremony. Check your Maastricht University e-mail inbox regularly!

In the invitation you will be informed about the location, the times and how many guests you can bring. That depends on the number of graduates, which we will only know 4 weeks before the graduation. Note that this is usually only two guests.

In case you cannot attend, you can de-register and you will be able to indicate how you want to receive the official diploma. It is, unfortunately, not possible to attend a ceremony on another date.
In case you need your diploma earlier, you can submit your request via email to law-diploma@maastrichtuniversity.nl. You will still be invited for the ceremony.

Your email address
Once you graduate and become an alumni, your faculty's administration will change your account status from “Student” to “Alumni” within 30 days. You can always access your email through https://outlook.office.com/mail/. Your email address will change from @student.maastrichtuniversity.nl to @alumni.maastrichtuniversity.nl. E-mails to the old address will still be received. If you want to change the private email address linked to the UM account or if you forget your password, please visit MyAccount to recover it. Questions? Contact the Student Services Centre or Education office.

Personal registration link
The invitation for the ceremony is personal and cannot be shared with fellow graduates. After registering, you can still edit your information until the registration deadline. However, please try to keep these edits to a minimum to limit mistakes.

Deadline
In order to prepare the diploma's and the programme, we work with a deadline. Unfortunately, we cannot accept requests/changes after the deadline.

Identification and QR code
When you enter the location, you need to present your personal QR Code and a proof of identity (passport, identity card or residence permit). This is to ensure that the degree will be handed out to the rightful owner.

Your guests
The location has limited seats available. We hope you can bring your loved ones to witness the presentation of your diploma. Note that this is usually only 2 guests so please do not yet invite more than 2.
It is not possible to bring extra guests other than the maximum you can register. Unfortunately, it is also not possible to bring additional guests on behalf of a graduate who does not bring guests. Please do not send requests for exceptions.

Caps and Gowns
In recent years, graduates have worn a cap and gown at graduation ceremonies. However, for sustainability reasons, we do not recommend purchasing these items of clothing just to wear them for a few hours. We appreciate it if you dress festively for this occasion, but of course, you are free to decide for yourself what to wear. If you do choose to purchase a gown and/or cap, you can use the link in the confirmation email.

Photos
Because we like to cherish good memories, the Faculty of Law will make photos which will be used on the UM website, alumnu wall, social media etc. We do not offer livestream. You can download your graduationphoto, after about 4 weeks, via this link

Alumi
We'd like to stay in touch with you! Join your cohort's LinkedIn group and stay connected with fellow students and staff at Maastricht University. On our website you will find more information about UM alumni events and valuable networking opportunities.

Parking
We recommend traveling by public transport. The location is a 20-minute walk from the railway station. However, if you use your own transport, we recommend to reserve a place in the Q-park garage onder het Vrijthof. Parking costs are at your own expense.

Hotel
Maastricht offers graduates and their parents a lot of possibilities to celebrate after the graduation ceremony. You can have lunch and/or dinner in one of the many restaurants in Maastricht (do not forget to make a reservation), and your family can choose to stay in one of the hotels in Maastricht.
LBG hotels offer you 12% discount on their Best Available Rate (excl. breakfast). You will find the bookingscode in the registrationform.

Not joining the ceremony? You still need to let us know!
If you will not be attending the graduation ceremony, we will need to hand over your graduation documents to you in a different manner (via registered mail or pick-up). In order to receive an email with further instructions on how to get your graduation documents, you still need to visit the graduation registration form and select the ticket 'I would like to deregister for the ceremony'.
