[Event postponed] Teach-Meet: Clashes in the classroom – Learn from experiences and responses from fellow teachers
Update 9 October 2024: This event has been postponed. The new date will be communicated as soon as possible.
This teach-meet brings together teachers from several UM faculties who have experienced clashes in the classroom related to general UM-PBL-group etiquettes, the content of the curriculum, the design of the course, skewed group dynamics or the impact of global affairs.
There is this split second in difficult classroom situations in which you, as a teacher, can try to intervene, keep an open dialogue or protect the group dynamic. With a mix of experience, training and personal character most teachers manage to handle challenging situations in the PBL classroom. Still, clashes in the classroom may cause group tension, affect the learning experience and negatively impact the comfort and confidence of both learner and teacher.
Our confirmed speakers are:
- Mark Kawakami, Law, Global Studies
- Rena Gatzounis, FPN
- Catia Pinto Teixeira, FPN
- Lisa Goller, FPN
This teach-meet will provide a platform to discuss strategies for maintaining open dialogue and managing difficult situations. We cordially invite you to join us. Drinks and snacks will be provided!
