Responsible Data Science in Maastricht uniquely combines tech with responsible use. In your first year, you’ll take core and elective courses, applying new knowledge immediately through project-based learning. In your second year, you’ll tailor your studies with electives and focus on your internship and thesis.

Periods 1, 2, 4, 5
Core courses in technical and societal aspects of data science. In your second semester, you’ll also choose an elective.
Periods 1–3 and 2–6:
Work on group projects, learning by doing! Early on, projects run alongside courses, but later, you’ll dedicate an entire period to full-time project work.

One final core course and an elective (even from other UM programmes!). You’ll also start your internship.
Periods 2–3
Focus entirely on your (international) internship at a company, research institute, or organisation.
Periods 4–6
Time for your master’s thesis. Upon completion, you’ll be ready to connect tech and society responsibly.
