Master

European Studies

Dive deep into Europe's global role. Master the complexities of global governance, EU external policymaking and diplomacy through a multidisciplinary lens. Shape tomorrow's solutions to the global challenges facing Europe.

Your future

As a graduate of the MA ES, you will be well-prepared for a career in the public sector, international organisations, non-govermental organisations, research institutions or the private sector.

Throughout the year, career-related events will be held to help you professionalise your CV, develop interview skills, etc. You will also meet our alumni who are already working in Brussels and national capitals. Although the master’s programme has a strong European focus, the international dimension also plays a significant role. With your all-round grasp of Europe’s place in the world, as well as experience in international teams and practical project work, you can look for work in:

  • diplomatic services and international organisations
  • non-governmental organisations and think tanks
  • regional, national or European administration and governance
  • international journalism
  • academia and research

“I know that Maastricht University has one of the best reputations, especially in Brussels. FASoS has not only given me theoretical knowledge, but also the skills that I now apply at my current job.”

Elena Dimitrova, Permanent Representative of the Bulgarian National Assembly to the European Parliament

“Aside from the flexibility, the master's programme is also a very social programme. As I spoke with cohorts before and after, I realized how unique it is to form a close bond with others in the master's.
