Meer of minder communicatie?
In een nostalgische bui denk ik nog wel eens terug aan mijn eerste baantje. Vol jeugdig enthousiasme achter mijn stalen Gispen bureautje. Gewapend met telefoon, fax én een roestige typemachine waar ik mijn vingernagels op brak. Daarnaast rende ik (vaak letterlijk) het hele gebouw door om met collega’s persoonlijk zaken af te stemmen.
Tegenwoordig hebben we een heel scala nieuwe communicatiemiddelen tot onze beschikking. We mailen, appen, chatten, sms’en, en twitteren heel wat af. Maar werken we nu zo veel beter samen? Zodra het fout gaat, constateren we eensgezind: het ligt aan de communicatie. Vaak draait het er dan op uit dat we iets nieuws bedenken om informatie met elkaar te delen. Zodat we weer méér communiceren. Is dat altijd de oplossing? Lopen we niet het risico dat we door al die prikkels te oppervlakkig worden en daardoor juist de essentie over het hoofd zien?
Communicatie. Ik vind het een heerlijk vak en kan er uren over praten. Maar ik realiseer me ook hoe belangrijk het is om vooral goed naar elkaar te luisteren. Zodat de vraag niet zozeer gaat over het méér of minder willen communiceren. Maar vooral over hoe het beter kan!
