Because Maastricht University pays the unemployment benefit (WW-uitkering), UM has the task of supporting employees in finding other work. This is done through the Staff Career Centre. If your contract expiring within a minimum of three months, you can receive support in your job search through labour market orientation and guidance, and (if desired) career coaching, among other things.
If you have an employment contract for an indefinite period, but the UM has the intention to terminate your employment contract, you can claim a transfer investigation. During the reassignment process, the opportunities for a new job within and possibly outside of UM are explored. You will receive guidance by the SCC in this and will be given priority with regard to internal vacancies. The SCC will match your qualifications with the available vacancies. You will also receive guidance in how to best present yourself in the job market, for example, through advice regarding networking, presentation, and your CV and cover letters. You can also receive support from a career coach.
Can you no longer fulfil your current job responsibilities due to illness? On the recommendation of the company doctor, the SCC investigates the possibility of another suitable position through an intensive counselling process, whereby you are given priority for internal vacancies for which you are qualified. You will also be intensively coached and guided in how to best present yourself in the job market.
More information can be found in the UM Guidelines for Reintegration (in Dutch), the UM guidelines for filling vacancies and on the website of the Dutch Employee Insurance Agency (UWV) .
