Sarah Edris (S.A.)

Research profile

I am an Assistant Professor at Maastricht University and Visiting Research Scholar at KU Leuven. I hold a Ph.D. from Rutgers University.

My research examines the international business activities and innovation strategies of multinational firms. I study intellectual property (IP) strategies, including litigation and enforcement reputation, and the organization and geography of R&D. Using large-scale firm-level data on patents, litigation, and scientific publications, I analyze how firms balance knowledge protection, collaboration, and competition. In parallel, I investigate sustainability- and policy-relevant questions in international business, including how environmental regulation and firm-level sustainability capabilities shape global FDI decisions and the interaction between sustainable cities and multinational firms.
