Associated staff and Partnerships
Systems biology is by definition a collaborative effort, characterized by an iterative process of biology driving technology driving computation. MaCSBio consists of an international, dynamic research community with a highly interdisciplinary character.
Associate members
Although having their primary position with another institute than MaCSBio, associate members are actively taking part in MaCSBio research. They are affiliated to other departments of Maastricht University or to universities elswhere in the Netherlands or Europe. Associate members collaborate in projects with MaCSBio members, apply jointly for research funding, and have access to the facilities provided by MaCSBio. An associate membership is an ideal way to become involved in MaCSBio research.

Academic Partnerships
MaCSBio partners share data, expertise, technology or their lab-infrastructure with MaCSBio. Partners are very welcome to participate in MaCSBio’s scientific meetings or invite MaCSBio members to join their meetings. Via its academic partnerships MaCSBio has access to:
- imaging infrastructure (Scannexus )
- genome sequencing, metabolic research facilities (NUTRIM/Metabolic Research Unit Maastricht (MRUM) )
- bioinformatics and data sciences (BiGCat and UM Institute of Data Science).
Partnering Organisations
MaCSBio or its members participate in (inter)national organisations and consortia important for further advancing the MaCSBio research. Currently MaCBio is an active member of:
The Human Brain Project
The Virtual Physiological Human Institute for Integrative Biomedical Research (VPH Institute)
The Netherlands Bioinformatics and Systems Biology Research School (BioSB)
The Netherlands Metabolomics Centre (NMC)
The Nutrigenomics and Nutritional Systems Biology Organization (NuGO)
The Dutch Techcentre for Life Sciences (DTL)
and is part of the management of COST Open Multiscale Systems Medicine (OpenMultiMed)
Become a MaCSBio-partner and get involved. The level of involvement can vary from partner to partner.
