Research & Funding
GROW research activities in the areas of oncology and reproductive medicine are closely interrelated, revolving around the same basic concepts and research techniques. Scientists at GROW collaborate intensively with clinicians at the Maastricht UMC+ Comprehensive Cancer Center and the Centre for Genetics, Reproduction and Child Health.

Basic and Translational Cancer Biology
The mission of the programme Basic and Translational Cancer Biology is to unravel basic (epi)genetic and cellular mechanisms that underlie the induction, progression and recurrence of malignancies by conducting molecular, histological and quantitative image analysis on blood, urine, cells and tissues from patients and developing in vivo mouse models to develop and implement innovative diagnostic and therapeutical procedures to improve tumour control and avoid harmful effects of disease and treatment.

Innovative Cancer Diagnostics and Therapy
The mission of the programme Innovative Cancer Diagnostics & Therapy is to study, develop and improve novel therapeutical approaches for personalized cancer treatment with a strong focus on preservation of function and quality of life (the new mission of GROW and the Maastricht UMC+ Comprehensive Cancer Center (MCCC)).
