Imaging & Spectroscopy
Imaging Mass Spectroscopy CORE lab
The IMS CORE lab provides a complete mass spectrometry infrastructure for the analysis of drugs, metabolites and more, with a specialisation in visualising the spatial distribution within the sample.
Microscopy CORE Lab
The Microscopy CORE Lab (MCL) provides advanced light and electron microscopy imaging techniques, and performs scanning and transmission electron microscopy, electron tomography, and correlative light- and electron microscopy.
MRI facilities
The state-of-the art MRI facilities at the Department of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine allow us to explore the brain in vivo and post-mortem with unparalleled spatial resolution.
Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)
Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is an analytical technique that uses a high magnetic field in combination with RF radiofrequencies to study molecules on the atomic scale.
Physiological Research
Breathomics
A sophisticated method by gas chromatography-time-of flight mass spectrometry (GC-TOF-MS) has been developed to analyse the total amount of volatile organic compounds in exhaled air, and to relate certain profiles to disease.
Food Innovation & Health Research
The human research facilities at Venlo’s UM Campus enable food innovation development and health effect studies in both standardised and real-life settings.
Human Performance Lab
The Maastricht Human Performance Lab compromises of three complementary facilities, brought together to link research, clinical practice and innovation in the field of human movement.
Metabolic imaging
The metabolic imaging facilities provide advanced imaging technologies that support cutting-edge clinical, translational and fundamental research in metabolism, nutrition and health.
Cohort Studies & Methods
CAPHRI Cohorts
CAPHRI holds or participates in numerous cohorts in the field of cancer, diabetes, influenza, asthma/COPD, physiotherapy, musculoskeletal diseases, lifestyle and genetic constitution, diabetes mellitus, quality of care.
CAPHRI Living Labs
In the living labs researchers work together with local care organisations, knowledge institutes, governments, local health councils and citizen representatives in research projects for health and well-being.
Euregional Microbiome Centre
The Euregional Microbiome Centre enables the bundling of complementary knowledge and infrastructure across borders, to facilitate prevention, nutrition-based interventions, and personalised treatment for a wide range of conditions.
Experience Sampling Method
ESM offers unique insight into people’s lived experience. This knowledge supports more personalized and responsive forms of care, earlier recognition of changes in wellbeing, and a deeper understanding of how context shapes health.
Cell & Molecular Research
Chemical Protein Synthesis
This platform focusses on the synthesis of complex peptides and proteins. Peptides and proteins are synthesised via solid-phase peptide synthesis, purified and analysed to allow total control of the target molecule.
Cytometry
Flow cytometry enables the detailed study of individual cells in a heterogeneous mixture, by rapidly measuring physical and chemical properties of cells, such as size, granularity, and fluorescence.
Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)
The NGS facility has a strong track record in all major RNA-seq methods, from tissues and cell lines to plasma, single cells and exosomes.
Phage Display Platform
The CARIM phage display platform offers all facilities, including several highly diverse peptide and antibody libraries and knowhow to conduct phage display lead selection.
Stable Isotope Research Centre (SIRC)
By combining advanced analytics with expert guidance, SIRC supports researchers in applying stable isotope methodologies to uncover mechanisms of disease, evaluate interventions, and accelerate the development of targeted therapies.
Structural Bioinformatics
Structural Bioinformatics comprises the theory, methods and applications of bioinformatics and applies these to biological structure data. This allows researchers to analyse and simulate 3D structures of molecules.
NWO Large-Scale Research Infrastructure
FHML is a partner in multiple projects that fall witin the NWO Large-Scale Research Infrastructure (LSRI). For top-level researh it is essential that researchers have access to high-quality infrastructure. This includes specialised equipment such as high-tech microsocopes.
