Away with routine! Changing perspectives on participation in your sustainability approach
Another fascinating deep dive (in Dutch) is on the agenda of the Regional Transition Platform.
It will take place on October 21, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Theater Kumulus in Maastricht.
This time, we will delve into the theme ‘Participation and Sustainability’ and aim for cross-pollination of knowledge and expertise between researchers and people from the field.
Municipalities are facing an immense sustainability challenge: decarbonising buildings, promoting sustainable mobility, and reducing energy poverty, flooding and heat stress. We cannot do this without residents. But how do you ensure that participation does not get bogged down in a slow and energy-intensive process?
There is much to learn about participatory approaches to making municipalities more sustainable. During this deep dive, we will take a creative and inspiring approach to the assumptions underlying local sustainability approaches. Led by researchers Nikki Kluskens (Eindhoven University of Technology) and Job Zomerplaag (Maastricht University), we will unravel the blind spots in the design and implementation of participation processes.
Do you work for a municipality or one of its partners in the region (such as housing associations, water boards, local energy initiatives), and are you involved in sustainability, local approaches, or resident participation? Or are you a researcher working on this subject?
Then this deep dive (in Dutch) is for you.
