UnliMited-Students buddy programme

The UnliMited-Students buddy programme offers one-to-one peer support for UM students with visible or invisible disabilities, chronic illnesses or neurodivergence.

University life can be challenging, and connecting with someone who understands your experiences can make a big difference. Through this programme, you’ll be paired with another student who also has a disability, chronic illness and/or neurodivergence.

We do our best to match buddies based on your personal situation and preferences such as gender, study programme or specific needs. While we can’t guarantee a perfect match due to availability, we aim to connect you with someone you can relate to and learn from.

How it works

The buddy programme is informal and flexible. You and your buddy decide how often to meet and what kind of support works best for you both. This could mean:

  • casual coffee meet-ups
  • study sessions
  • exchanging messages
  • checking in from time to time

Every buddy connection is different, but the goal is always to build a mutual, respectful support system.

Sign up by 5 October!

Meet Your Buddy event

To help you get started, we’re hosting a Meet Your Buddy event on Tuesday, 28 October at 16.00. This will give you the opportunity to meet your buddy in person in a relaxed setting. More details will be shared soon, and for those who can’t attend, alternative dates will be arranged.

Expectations and boundaries for the programme

To make sure everyone has a positive experience, we ask that participants:

  • keep conversations private and respect each other’s boundaries and personal information
  • remember the programme is for peer support, not a replacement for professional counselling or academic accommodations
  • respect different comfort levels for communication frequency, meeting preference and topics of discussion
