50 years of Medicine education in Maastricht
This year is the 50th anniversary of the Dutch taught Medicine programme. A festive occasion for which many activities have already been organised, such as the unveiling of the artwork at the deans' wall and the 'Preuvenemint event: Half a century of medicine education and care innovation in Maastricht'.
On 28 September, the most important people for the 50th anniversary were highlighted: the first five generations of students. These pioneers, the first of which started without a curriculum, returned in large numbers to their alma mater, in the building where it began in 1974: 53 Tongersestraat.
The Faculty of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences, in collaboration with the Alumni Office, organised an amazing reunion for more than 100 former students and former employees. A special day, as for some attendees it had been more than 40 years since they had last seen each other. A day full of recognition, picking up old stories and memories, and reliving old friendships.
Dean Annemie Schols welcomed the large group. Vice-president Jan-Tjitte Meindersma also visited the reunion, not only to give a welcome speech, but also to celebrate this special moment together with his mother, class of 1978.
