Teacher Information Points at UM
UM faculties now host Teacher Information Points (TIPs) that offer local, “just-in-time” and on-demand support for teaching staff. The aim is simple: to provide help that is closely connected to day-to-day teaching practice.
TIPs were created in 2024 after EDLAB received an NPULS grant to strengthen teacher support across the university. The approach follows research showing that professional development works best when it directly responds to real teaching challenges.
Each TIP is coordinated by a faculty staff member and embedded within the existing support infrastructure and culture of that faculty. Together, the coordinators form a university-wide TIP network organised by EDLAB, focused on knowledge sharing, exchange and professional development.
Over the past year, TIP coordinators have been analysing and improving support infrastructures and organising new activities. TIPs are intended to boost support in faculties where structures already exist and to provide a foundation in faculties where support is still developing.
Ultimately, the goal is to strengthen UM’s overall culture of teaching support.
