The Green Dot workshop
Green Dot is an interactive workshop focused on creating a culture where sexual violence is not accepted and everyone plays a role in prevention.
Sexual violence can take many forms and happen anywhere. Research shows that changing everyday norms can make a huge difference, and that sexual violence affects too many of our colleagues and students. Using the metaphor of the Green Dot, the workshop provides a shared language and framework to help initiate this cultural change.
What will you learn?
During the session, you will learn how to recognise concerning behaviours and how to intervene effectively as a bystander. The workshop also explores strategies to strengthen positive university norms and contribute to a safer environment.
More information
Our UM trainers will guide you through the workshop, tailored to the UM context, using real-life examples to strengthen your skills as an empowered, active bystander. The session is interactive and uses examples of sexual violence. These skills are not only applicable to preventing sexual violence but can also be used in other situations to address discrimination and violence.
How to participate?
Check out our current scheduled workshops via the links, or get in touch to organise a workshop for your department, event, or group. The workshops are led by trained instructors from across Maastricht University and are available in both Dutch and English. The examples in the workshop can be tailored for students, staff, or specific target groups, for example, we already have Carnaval and INKOM versions, as well as sessions designed for different employee groups.
Workshops are followed by booster activities or other reinforcement tools, such as posters or small goodies, to keep the message alive.
