Maastricht University (UM) is known for its International Classroom and unique, small-scale approach to teaching: Problem-Based Learning. PBL nurtures skills relevant to the labour market of the 21st century, such as independence, critical thinking, initiative, curiosity and creativity as well as soft skills. Under the guidance of our experienced tutors, you analyse and solve relevant, complex problems in small international groups.

What's on offer


Information sessions

Information sessions start every hour on the hour from 10.00 until 16.00, and usually take 30 minutes. Here, you can find out everything you need to know about the respective programme, participate in discussions, watch demonstrations and take a tour through our labs and classrooms.

There is a break after every information session.

 If you would like to attend a session other than the one you have registered for, please register again. If you register for the second time, your first registration will no longer be valid.

 Please note: the faculties are located in different parts of the city. It will take you around 30 minutes to get from the Randwyck campus (in the east, next to the MUMC) to the inner city faculties with the shuttle bus.

Information fairs

Find out about admission requirements, tuition fees, housing, study and sports facilities, language courses, student life, and job prospects. Each faculty organises an information fair about its bachelor's programme. A similar fair will be held at the Student Services Centre (see below).

Students, staff members and alumni will be at hand to answer your questions about our programmes, the university, and Maastricht as a student city.

Specifically for international students

Are you an international visitor who would like to find out more about studying in Maastricht? At the Student Services Centre you can find an "International Fair" where students from different nationalities can tell you about their experiences of studying and living in Maastricht.

Parents’ info sessions

How can you as a parent help your child choose the right programme?

University College Maastricht, the Department of Data Science and Knowledge Engineering, the  Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, the  Faculty of Health, Medicine & Life Sciences, and the Faculty of Law will host a 'Parents' Café'. In addition, some faculties offer special information sessions for parents, covering everything from curricula to Problem-Based Learning, admissions procedures and student life in Maastricht.

Student guides from the free information portal MyMaastricht.nl will fill you in on such matters as health care, housing, subsidies, public transport or where to get a good bike. In short, they will tell you all you want and need to know in order to enjoy your student life in Maastricht to the fullest.

Getting to Maastricht

There are 8 international airports within 2.5 hours of Maastricht: Maastricht Aachen Airport, Eindhoven, Schiphol Amsterdam, Weeze, Cologne/Bonn, Düsseldorf, Brussels Charleroi and Brussels Zaventem.

You can reach Maastricht from Dutch train stations or from the international train hubs Liège-Guillemins or Aachen Hbf – plan your journey online via NS, Arriva or 9292.nl.

We offer free parking at Universiteitssingel 40 in Randwyck (note that it will take you a minimum of 30 minutes to travel from the Randwyck campus to our inner city faculties by free shuttle buses arranged by Maastricht University). Maastricht Bereikbaar offers detailed information on parking elsewhere, scheduled roadworks, planned closures, etc.


Getting around in Maastricht

Parking in the inner city is problematic, so take advantage of the free parking lots at Randwyck. Free shuttle buses will take you from there to all the faculties, Maastricht Central station, the inner city and then back to Randwyck between 09.00 and 19.00. Please allow for a minimum travel time of 30 minutes between locations.

 Maastricht Bereikbaar offers detailed information on parking, roadworks, etc.

 Arriva and 9292.nl have schedules for city buses.

Inner city locations are within walking distance from each other. Students in Maastricht University vests will be present to give you directions.
