Please join us for a full day of walking to mark the beginning of the academic year.

In 2024–2025, Claartje Rasterhoff and Christian Ernsten, in collaboration with Natuurmonumenten, organized a series of River Ateliers in the Volmolen landscape — a unique part of the Geul Valley near Epen. These gatherings explored the role of cultural landscapes in the context of climate change.

As a follow-up, we organized a Perspectives Walk on June 16, 2025, with designers, landscape and water managers, and local farmers. Together, we discussed pressing issues such as water toxicity, the aesthetics of cultural landscapes, and the role of heritage professionals as curators.

This upcoming AMC-MERIAN-MACCH walk will follow the same route along the Geul River, with several stops for exchange and reflection. Along the way, we will present the Field Guide we developed in response to the River Ateliers, and invite you to discuss our research findings.

We hope you will join us for this day-long walk on August 28!
