Courses & curriculum

! Important notice: the possibility to enrol in the English-language track of the bachelor's programme in Medicine will be discontinued as of the academic year 2026-2027. International students can still be admitted to the Dutch-language bachelor's programme in Medicine, provided they successfully complete the selection process and meet the Dutch language requirements before the start of the programme. These requirements include the Staatsexamen Nt2 diploma (at least level II) or an equivalent certification. The information stated here below is only relevant for the academic year 2024-2025.

In the bachelor in Medicine people-centred care is considered ‘core business’. The curriculum contains four 10 week periods in Year 1 and 2, followed by a 20 week minor period and a 20 week (‘Integrated Care’) period in Year 3. The content of the 10 week periods in Year 1 and 2 are based on themes from health care practice (Acute Care, Short-term Care, Chronic Care, and Preventive Care/ Care for Health).

In the periods in Year 1-2-3, the teaching and learning activities and the feedback and assessment tasks are clustered in three Longitudinal Teaching Trajectories which are ‘Medical Professional’, ‘Critical Professional’ and ‘Professional and Personal Development’.

In addition, for ca. 1 day/week you will create your own program by choosing from a menu of electives and student clinics activities.

A Certificate of conduct (VOG) is required to be allowed to start the education parts of year 2 and 3. This must be arranged in the months before the start of year 2. If you do not/cannot arrange a VOG, it is not possible to do the compulsory education parts of year 2 and 3, which means you cannot complete this study successfully.

Below you will find the course information for the bachelor's in Medicine – English Track, Curriculum 2022 for year 1-2-3. You can also view the Dutch courses of the current bachelor Geneeskunde Curriculum 2011, Year 1-2-3. Note that this is NOT the same content.
