My name is Pooja Mandaviya and I have been appointed as a Postdoc in Molecular Epidemiology and Personalized Nutrition.

I am originally from India (brought up in its smallest state, Goa), but I have now been in the Netherlands for almost 7 years. In 2011, I had pursued my 6 months Masters' internship from the Department of Bioinformatics - BiGCaT at Maastricht University.

I finished my PhD 7 months ago from the Erasmus University Medical Center, Rotterdam, in the topic "Effects of Methyl-Group Metabolism and Lifestyle Factors on Genome-Wide DNA Methylation".

Another high-impact publication linked to MaCSBio. The paper, which was co-written by Prof. Ilja Arts, highlights the persistent effects of breastfeeding duration and pre-school dietary lifestyle in affecting the gut microbiota in school-age children.

2018 is almost at an end and what a year it was:

      ● Another successful MaCSBio Science Day
      ● A new peer group on microbiome data analysis
      ● Dozens of publications
      ● New additions to the team
      ● Great interns

More exciting things to come in 2019, but for now: Merry Christmas!
