Job Opening: Manager for Events and Projects at the Green Office Maastricht

Do you want to make sustainability part of everyday life at Maastricht University? Are you someone who enjoys organizing events, building community, and turning ideas into action? The Green Office is looking for a new  Manager for Events and Projects to join our student team! 

About the Green Office 
The Green Office is the university’s student-led sustainability platform. We work on projects, events, campaigns, and collaborations that promote environmental and social sustainability across UM. Our mission is to empower the university community to take meaningful climate and sustainability action, and to act as a bridge between students, staff, and wider community stakeholders. 

Responsibilities

1. Event Planning and Execution 

  • Plan and coordinate events like the Sustainability Festival, Skill-Sharing Workshops, Clothing Swaps, or Repair Cafés. 
  • Develop your own ideas for new events and campaigns, or support the initiatives of other Green Office and Hub members. 
  • Handle event logistics, promotion, outreach, and follow-up. 
     

2. Community and Circularity Projects 

  • Support and oversee Circularity Projects, including the Swap Room, Repair Workshops, and Zero Waste campaigns. 
  • Be a point of contact for students who want to get involved in sustainability at UM. 
     

3. Outreach and Representation 

  • Represent the Green Office at public events and in meetings with partners inside and outside the university.
  • Communicate the Green Office’s mission and projects to students, staff, and external collaborators. 
  • Develop partnerships with student groups, NGOs, or sustainability networks in Maastricht. 
     

4. Team Collaboration 

  • Work closely with other Green Office members in weekly meetings and team sessions. 
  • Participate in SUM2030 joint meetings (UM’s central sustainability strategy). 
  • Report on your progress and share updates to align on shared goals.

What We’re Looking For

  • A motivated and proactive UM student (Bachelor or Master level). 
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to manage multiple projects. 
  • Interest or experience in event planning, sustainability, and working with diverse teams. 
  • Comfortable working independently while staying communicative and collaborative. 
  • Creative, flexible, and open to feedback and learning. 
     

Practical Details 
 🕒 ~10 hours/week (flexible schedule) 
 📍 Based at the Green Office in the Sustainability Hub 
 📅 Position starts mid-August / September
