New Central and Eastern Europe Hub at Maastricht University

We are excited to announce the launch of the Central and Eastern Europe hub (CEEhub) at Maastricht University, bringing together research, outreach, and education on the region. The CEEhub focuses on key issues shaping Central and Eastern Europe, including democratic resilience, connectivity, European integration, and memory politics.

 

Key Areas of Expertise:

  • Democratic Resilience and Autocratisation: Studying the rise of autocracy and sources of democratic resilience in the region.
  • Flows and Connectivity: Investigating the movement of ideas, goods, and people, with a focus on sectors like energy, digital technologies, and finance.
  • European Integrations and EU Enlargement: Examining the impact of EU enlargement and the region’s role in European cooperation.
  • Memory Politics and Identity: Analyzing contested historical narratives and their influence on contemporary political identities.
