Tans Medal for Jos Lemmink
During his farewell lecture, Professor of Marketing and Service Innovation Jos Lemmink received the Tans Medal, UM's highest distinction, honouring those who have made a significant contribution to the development of the university.
For nearly four decades, Jos Lemmink has been an integral part of the School of Business and Economics. His journey began in 1985 when he joined the Faculteit der Economische Wetenschappen van de Rijksuniversiteit Limburg.
Over the years, he went on to carry out many roles at SBE, including head of the Management Sciences department, head of the Marketing department, director of the research school METEOR, and associate dean of research. From 2006-2013, and in Summer 2022, he was Executive Dean of the Maastricht University School of Business and Economics. He served on a number of International Advisory Boards of Business Schools and Boards of EQUIS and AACSB.
Over the past 39 years, Jos Lemmink has been a tireless advocate for collaboration between the UM and the local community. His commitment was not limited to the growth of the UM and SBE but to the growth of the region as a whole. This is underscored by his active participation in regional development programmes, as well as the development of the Brightlands Campuses. “His impact goes beyond his professional accomplishments. He stands as a role model inspiring PhD candidates and countless students, projects, and tutorial groups”, UM vice-president Nick Bos concluded when presenting the Tans Medal.
