Young researchers UM in race for title Science Talent 2021
Two of the three finalists competing for the title of Science Talent 2021 of New Scientist are affiliated with Maastricht University (UM). Aurelie Carlier who, among other things, developed a 'virtual patient' to better understand bone fractures and Kai Deckers with his research into the chance people have of developing dementia. Both work at the Faculty of Health Medicine & Life Sciences of the UM.
Public voting round and jury verdict
The finalists come from more than fifty candidates nominated by Dutch and Flemish universities and knowledge institutions. After a public voting round, the jury assessed the five best-scoring candidates on scientific and social impact, originality of the research and the degree of public communication. The winner of the three finalists will be announced on Thursday 10 June during New Scientist Live.
