'Opportunities in border regions should be seized more'

“De Nederlandse grens met België en Duitsland is meer dan duizend kilometer lang. In de grensregio’s liggen zeven provincies en meer dan honderd gemeenten waar miljoenen Nederlanders werken, ondernemen of studeren. Vaak doen ze dat aan de Nederlandse kant van de grens. Maar er zijn voor werkzoekenden, ondernemers en studenten ook allerlei kansen en mogelijkheden in de buurlanden België of Duitsland. Omgekeerd geldt dat ook. Die kansen worden nog onvoldoende benut. Het leven en werken in de grensregio’s van Nederland is anders dan in de rest van Nederland en daar moet in het nationale beleid rekening mee worden gehouden."
