Maastricht University Library embeds open learning materials across education

With support from the OpenUp scheme by Npuls, the Maastricht University Library is taking concrete steps to embed open learning materials across education.

Read an interview (in Dutch) for insights from UM Library colleagues Michel Saive and Akorshi Sengupta on how this work is evolving and what it means for staff and students.

The work includes faculty projects, new tools, and the integration of Open Science in Education into UTQ programmes, and is gaining extra momentum: in January 2026, Akorshi Sengupta joined EDLAB for two days a week as Npuls Education Programmes Coordinator to help strengthen alignment between Npuls and Maastricht University.

"Open Science has long been seen as something that mainly mattered for research, for instance for sharing articles. We now want to make its added value for education visible as well,” says Sengupta.
