An implant that could help prevent knee osteoarthritis
Even at a relatively young age, people can develop cartilage damage in their knees. This is usually caused by overuse, sports injuries or excess weight.
These people are often too young for a knee replacement. Therefore, Pieter Emans (CAPHRI) is researching a small implant that can replace the damaged cartilage. His goal is to help delay or even prevent osteoarthritis, and help people keep their own knee for longer.
