9 December protest against higher education cuts in Amsterdam
With the additional education cuts from the Spring Memorandum still fresh in our minds and the formation of a new cabinet in full swing, AOb, FNV, LSVb, and WOinActie* organise another protest on 9 December. The Executive Board supports the aim of this protest: to prevent the Netherlands from falling behind, it is essential to invest in innovation, education and research. We are therefore happy to accommodate staff and students once again to give them the opportunity to take part in the protest.
Do you want to join the protest?
The protest will take place on 9 December from 12.00 on Dam Square in Amsterdam. More information about the programme for that day and other actions can be found on the AOb and FNV websites.
Informatie for employees
- Employees of UM can find more information about the protest and stay up to date with the latest developments via UMployee.
- Join the UMployee group WOinActie at UM for the latest developments, and support the protest by taking action yourself.
This page will allow you to get in touch with fellow activists.
Information for students
- Students have no attendance requirement on that day, but are responsible for catching up on any missed classes.
- Educational activities that will take place on 9 December are:
- scheduled exams
- patient care
- compulsory practicals
In conclusion
It is important that we all support this movement during this period of cabinet formation. Out of solidarity with other institutions that are already facing significant budget cuts, and because of the impact that additional plans for budget cuts from various political parties could have on UM. We therefore appeal to you once again and hope that we will gather in large numbers in Amsterdam on 9 December.
We hope to see you on 9 December!
*They organise this protest on behalf of the coalition against the cuts. That also includes PNN, 0.7, ASVA, HBOinActie.
