My current research focuses mainly on forensic case work in the fields of Speaker Identification, Intelligibility Enhancement of Audio Recordings, Authenticity and Integrity of Audio Recordings, and Linguistic Text Analysis. (Details)

My dissertation, titled Prosodic Processes in Language and Music, focuses on speech prosody: rhythm, intonation, and phrasing.

  • Reference corpus of Dutch drug users I: MDMA/Ecstasy. With Viktoria Papp, Prof. dr. Jan Ramaekers and Dr. Eef Theunissen. (IAFPA research grant 2011).
  • Experiment on expectancy bias in speaker recognition by police investigators, with Karst Maas (Police Academy), and Melanie Sauerland.
  • Experiment on expectancy bias in speaker recognition by phone tap interpreters.
  • Earwitness identification and affective responses to auditory reminders of traumatic experiences. With Thomas Meyer and several students.
  • Choice blindness for voices, by forensic speech experts, with Anna Sagana, Melanie Sauerland and Henry Otgaar.
  • Speech intelligibility and expectancy bias, several experiments with students and phone tap interpreters.
