Student-Meet Vol. 15: How to be (more than) a student
Join us for a relaxed, student-led workshop for anyone who wants to study more efficiently without letting university consume their entire life.
Being a student is so much more than deadlines, ECTS, and exam weeks. It’s a time where you’re learning how to think, how to manage your time, and how to figure out who you are beyond your degree.
But let’s be honest: studying can easily take over everything. Suddenly, there’s no time (or energy) left for hobbies, rest, or simply just being a human being.
That’s why we’re hosting “How to be (more than) a student” on Tuesday 12 May at EDLAB.
In the first part of the session, we’ll explore how to learn smarter, not harder. Together, we’ll unpack common study myths, discuss evidence-based study techniques, and test what actually works for you. No pressure - just practical tools you can immediately use in your own studies.
In the second part, we’ll zoom out. If studying better gives you time back, the question becomes: what do you want to do with it? We’ll talk about finding (or rediscovering) hobbies alongside university, how to start when you “don’t really have hobbies,” and why having something outside of your studies isn’t a luxury but rather an essential for your wellbeing.
This session is for you if you:
- feel like studying takes up all your time
- want to be more efficient without burning out
- miss having hobbies or want to try new ones
- want to connect with other students who feel the same
Come as you are. No prep needed. Just curiosity, and maybe the desire to make student life feel a bit more balanced ;) (with a slice of pizza in hand).
This Student-Meet event is an initiative of ESAB, the Student Advisory Board of EDLAB, Maastricht University's Centre for Teaching & Learning.
