"Fatigue in people with COPD or COVID-19"
Fatigue is a common symptom of many chronic diseases, including COPD, but also viral infections such as SARS-CoV-2. Fatigue profoundly and adversely affects quality of life. It remains, despite its high prevalence and great impact, an understudied symptom. The central aim of the first part of this thesis was to investigate fatigue in patients with COPD and other chronic diseases. Moreover, in response to the emerging SARS-CoV-2 outbreak during the writing of this dissertation, the second part of this thesis focused on symptoms, including fatigue, during the acute phase and aftermath of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
