Specialisations

Year 1

In the first year, you’ll be introduced to the three themes on which the programme is built:

  • Healthy Generations
  • Living Environment and Climate
  • Healthcare and the Social Domain

Within each theme, you’ll explore various disciplines, clustered into three perspectives:

  • Biology
  • Behaviour
  • Environment

Year 2

In the second year, you’ll continue working with the three themes, deepen your knowledge and skills, and take on more complex and authentic projects. There’s also room to make your own choices and specialise in one of the three perspectives.

Biology
This profile focuses on how the human body functions. You explore how biological systems support health and how factors such as nutrition, exercise, and pathogens can disrupt this balance. You’ll gain insight into cellular and organ processes and learn how biological knowledge is applied in prevention and treatment.

Behaviour
This profile centres on human behaviour—both individually and in social contexts. You learn how habits, beliefs, and social norms influence health and how behavioural change can be encouraged. Attention is given to psychological processes as well as the influence of social networks and communities.

Environmental
This profile focuses on the broader context in which health takes shape. You examine how policy, living environments, and societal structures can either promote or challenge health. There is particular emphasis on prevention, innovation, and the design of healthy systems.

Year 3

In the third year, you can broaden your horizon further by choosing a minor. You’ll conclude the bachelor’s programme with a thesis, in which you research and elaborate on a current health issue.
