Meet our interns!
Together, this international group of motivated students speaks 16 different languages. Their research interests in the fields of property law, environmental law, company law, law and technology, consumer law, and comparative law, just to name a few, are equally diverse. The unifying element is, of course, private law!

Interns for the 2024-2025 Academic Year
Chlóe Clemente
Chlóe is currently studying to obtain her L.L.B in European Law. She is Swiss, Spanish and Portuguese, and speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, and French. Her main areas of interest are within private law, more specifically in the fields of tort and family law. She is also interested in exploring these fields from a comparative legal perspective.
Filip Tarana
Filip is originally from Slovakia and is currently pursuing an L.L.B. in European Law. Fluent in Slovak and English, his interests are centered around private law, with a particular focus on contract, tort, and company law. He is eager to explore these areas through both practical and comparative lenses and aims to deepen his understanding of how private law influences business practices and legal frameworks.
Georgios Karampelas
George is a third-year student at the European Law School programme at the University of Maastricht. He is keen on acquiring substantive knowledge within the field of European and comparative private law. In the future, he wishes to apply this knowledge and the qualifications he obtained at the university to the insurance industry, by offering his services as a lawyer/legal advisor.
Haneen Kawash
Haneen raises unique interdisciplinary questions in private law matters. She is currently completing her LLB with a minor in Human and Legal Decision-making and a minor in Law and Technology. She finds herself attached to contract, commercial, and corporate law, while also possessing expertise in technology, neuroscience, and their intersection with law.
Iason Spanoudis
Iason is currently pursuing an LLB in European Law at Maastricht University. Growing up in an international environment in Greece, he witnessed firsthand the challenges posed by limited access to legal aid and aims to bridge this gap by building on his current research on making EU regulations machine readable. His interests encompass corporate law, property law, environmental law, and EU law. Upon completing his studies, Iason aims to pursue an LLM and qualify as solicitor, focusing on a career in private law.
Ísabella Árnadóttir
Ísabella is an Icelandic student pursuing an LLB in European Law. She is fluent in Icelandic, Danish, and English. Her primary academic interests lie in private law, specifically property and tort law, which she is eager to explore from a comparative legal perspective. Isabella is particularly interested in how private law can adapt to address global challenges.
Julia Bajer
Julia is in her second year of studying to obtain her L.L.B. in European Law. She is from Poland and speaks both Polish and English. Her newfound interests lie within private law and she is fascinated by topics related to AI, data protection and intellectual property rights. Passionate about the evolving legal landscape, she closely follows how legal systems are adapting to rapid advancements in AI and technology.
Kaan Stassen
Kaan is currently pursuing a MSc in Governance and Leadership in European Public Health alongside a BSc in European Law at Maastricht University. Originally from Amsterdam, with Dutch, German, and Turkish heritage, he brings a cross-cultural perspective to his studies and work. Kaan’s research interests lie at the intersection of health policy and European legal systems, especially in regulatory areas affecting public health, such as chemical safety and consumer protection. He is eager to contribute to projects that tackle complex, real-world challenges in European private law.
Mia Schürkamp
Mia is currently pursuing her Master’s degree at Maastricht University within the specialisation Law for a Sustainable Europe at the European Law School. After completing her first German State Exam in Law in Frankfurt she came to Maastricht to deepen her knowledge and gain new insights within her area of interest. Her research interests lie within the relation of law and sustainable development within the legal framework of Europe, especially with regards to private law.
Mari Vasileva
Mari is a Bachelor's student in the European Law School. As a communicative and driven individual, she is dedicated to expanding her knowledge and contributing to the legal community. Her research interests are centered around contract, company, business, and corporate law. She is enthusiastic about exploring and analyzing the complexities of contractual relationships, corporate governance, and the legal framework that governs businesses.
Natan Vavrek
Natan is currently studying at Maastricht University at the second year bachelor of European Law School. He comes from Slovakia and speaks English, Slovak, Czech and Spanish. He is interested in a wide variety of legal fields, but primarily in private law corporate sustainability, value chain governance and AI from a legal perspective.
Tory (Hạ-My) Nguyễn Trần
Tory (Hạ-My) is a second year student of European Law. She grew up in Saigon, Vietnam and speaks Vietnamese, English, and een beetje Nederlands. She is interested in commercial law, IP law, and competition law. She likes spending her savings on debate competitions abroad (she says they are her excuse for a vacation) and does gym and badminton in her free time.
