BioColEol
BioColEol is engaged in the development of innovative bio-based dyes designed for incorporation into biopolymers used in textile and packaging applications. These efforts aim to provide sustainable, non-petroleum alternatives that enhance the environmental performance of colored biopolymer materials.

Maastricht University (UM) will contribute to this project by examining the end-of-life strategies of these materials. Through the application of advanced analytical methods and artificial intelligence–driven modelling, degradation behaviours and recycling potential can be understood and improved.
Specifically, UM will focus on:
- Advancing mechanical recycling strategies via AI technologies
- Understanding and improving decolorization and degradation of bio-based polymers
- Enabling more efficient end-of-life reprocessing and supporting a circular materials economy
