Dr Vanessa LaPointe (V.L.S.)

Vanessa LaPointe studied Biomedical Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University (USA). She did her doctoral research with Professor Molly Stevens at Imperial College London (UK) and received her PhD in 2013. As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Twente (the Netherlands), she was awarded a fellowship from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.

In 2014, Dr LaPointe joined the MERLN Institute for Technology-Inspired Regenerative Medicine as a group leader in cell therapies for regenerative medicine. Her lab is focussed on developing vision-saving therapies for the cornea and ocular surface. They work on the full spectrum of "bench to bedside", with projects at various stages of fundamental and translational research.
