Sueli Kyomi Brodin - Pijpers (S.K.)
Sueli Brodin, a French, Brazilian and Dutch national, started working as an editor and a communications officer at UNU-MERIT in April 2013. She holds a Bachelor's of Arts in English Literature and is fluent in French, English, Dutch, Spanish and Portuguese. After spending her youth in Brazil, Pakistan, Japan and France, Sueli settled down in 1994 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, where she first worked at the Maastricht School of Management and later at the European Journalism Centre.
Besides her responsibilities at UNU-MERIT, she is a freelance communications consultant for various higher education institutes, including Maastricht School of Management.
Sueli Brodin is proficient in all aspects of communications, especially in the areas of education and sustainable development. As a strong advocate of evidence-based, action-research approaches for policy design, she works to disseminate the findings of academics to students, societal decision makers and the wider public.
Sueli is a board member of the Eugène Dubois Foundation, PechaKucha Maastricht, and the Studium Generale Foundation at Maastricht University. She is a member of the Brain Trust of TEDxMaastricht, the Events Advisory Committee and the Commission on Integration and Internationalisation for the city of Maastricht.
